Two new food counters are moving into neighboring suites on Bolsa Chica Street near Heil Avenue this fall, the Sisson Tract's nearest shopping corner. Rooster's Sandwich Shop is now open at 16375 Bolsa Chica St. Pastaphony, a made-to-order pasta counter, has posted that it will open next door at 16377 in November 2026. Before this fall, it was a place for laundry, pet supplies and nails, with a few food stops in between. By the end of November it will have six places to eat in a row.
A Row That Rarely Changes Hands
The best way to see how unusual this fall is comes from the City of Huntington Beach's active business license roster. The September 2026 edition, printed October 3, lists every licensed business by address. Here is the row from 16363 to 16389, with the date each license started:
- Pasty Kitchen, 16363 Bolsa Chica St, licensed June 18, 2024
- Olive Pit Mediterranean Grill, 16365 Bolsa Chica St, licensed June 10, 2010
- Tama Sushi, 16367 Bolsa Chica St, licensed September 22, 2021
- Harbor Market, 16369 Bolsa Chica St, licensed July 19, 2016
- Rooster's, 16375 Bolsa Chica St, licensed August 20, 2026
- Pastaphony Huntington Beach, 16377 Bolsa Chica St, licensed September 28, 2026
- Laundream, 16379 Bolsa Chica St, licensed March 16, 2018
- MT Anna Salon, 16383 Bolsa Chica St, licensed April 30, 2025
- Today's Nail & Spa, 16385 Bolsa Chica St, licensed May 1, 2004
- Animalia, 16389 Bolsa Chica St, licensed July 15, 2020
Today's Nail & Spa has been licensed here since 2004 and Olive Pit since 2010. Six of the ten licenses date to 2021 or earlier. Before this fall, the newest arrival was MT Anna Salon in spring 2025. Then two licenses started about five weeks apart, in suites that share a wall.
A license on the roster shows the city has a current registration on file. It doesn't prove a storefront is open on a given afternoon. Hours for the businesses at 16363 to 16369 aren't confirmed here. Rooster's, and Pastaphony's opening plans, are confirmed on their own websites.
What Opened at 16375
Map directories still list Valentino's Pizza at 16375 Bolsa Chica St, though they show the listing as closed. Rooster's Sandwich Shop now has that address. Its site says it is now open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its city license began August 20, 2026.
The shop sums up its approach in a line at the top of its site:
Made with care. Made for our community.
Its homepage lists scratch-made sauces, made-to-order sandwiches, fresh local bread and no seed oils. The lineup has ten sandwiches, priced from $15 to $22.
- $15: Egg Salad, Turkey Provolone
- $16: Veggie
- $18: Huntington Club, The Italian, Smashed Meatball, The Beef Bodega
- $21: OG French Dip, Pastrami
- $22: Chicken Cutlet, with roasted chicken cutlet, whipped burrata, prosciutto, tomato aioli, house balsamic, pickled red onion, tomato and shredded lettuce on a baguette
Rooster's takes online orders through its site. It closes at 4 p.m. and is closed Monday and Tuesday, so it serves the lunch crowd only.
What Arrives at 16377 in November
The suite next door was last listed as Hot N Chili Indian Restaurant, which directories now show as permanently closed. Pastaphony's Huntington Beach page says the shop will open in November 2026. It will serve build-your-own pasta bowls, where you choose the pasta, sauce and toppings, along with signature pastas, salads and garlic bread, all made to order.
The page doesn't give an exact date yet. It says ordering and the phone line will open with the store, and that hours will be posted then. It points readers to the chain's Instagram, @pastaphony, for the announcement. Until then, the page lists the nearest open locations as Stanton, about 5 miles away, and Long Beach, about 9 miles. Once the Bolsa Chica suite opens, there will be a location right on this corner.
Six Food Counters Between the Errands
The new food suites sit right next to the errand shops. Rooster's and Pastaphony are the fifth and sixth suites on the roster. Laundream, the laundry business at 16379, sits directly beside Pastaphony. At the far end, Animalia at 16389 carries pet food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds and small animals, and offers grooming. Between the two are MT Anna Salon, which offers nail, eyelash and spa services, and Today's Nail & Spa.
Until this fall, the four food businesses sat together at the south end of the row, from 16363 to 16369. The two Valentino's and Hot N Chili suites in the middle had been listed as closed. With Rooster's open and Pastaphony on the way, food will run from 16363 to 16377 without a gap. A wash cycle at Laundream, a grooming appointment at Animalia and a nail appointment two doors down all now come with a lunch option a few steps away.
The food lineup on the row will cover a lot of ground: Pasty Kitchen, Olive Pit Mediterranean Grill, Tama Sushi, Harbor Market, sandwiches at Rooster's and pasta at Pastaphony, all on one sidewalk.
The Heil Avenue Side Covers Breakfast and Evenings
Rooster's covers the middle of the day. The center at 5050 Heil Ave fills in the earlier and later hours. Roman's Mexi Cali Grill, in Suite B, serves Mexican and California food. It opens at 7 a.m. every day, which makes it the corner's confirmed breakfast stop. Its city license dates to March 2023.
Here is how the confirmed hours line up across the week:
| Day | Roman's Mexi Cali Grill | Rooster's Sandwich Shop | Pastaphony |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 7 a.m.–6 p.m. | Closed | Hours posted at opening |
| Tuesday | 7 a.m.–8 p.m. | Closed | Hours posted at opening |
| Wednesday–Saturday | 7 a.m.–8 p.m. | 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. | Hours posted at opening |
| Sunday | 7 a.m.–3 p.m. | 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. | Hours posted at opening |
Next door in Suite A is Hy-Roy's lounge. It has held its city license at 5050 Heil Ave since August 1, 1979, the oldest start date at either center on this corner. Hy-Roy's hours weren't confirmed for this post.
Suite C at the same address lists more than a dozen beauty licensees on the city roster, including Studio Fifty Fifty, The Waxing Studio, Sugared Society, Manewaytodye Hair Services and Hair by Christine Richards. Three of them, Aubrey Nita Beauty, Hair by Amanda Lynn and Autumn Martinez, got their licenses between June and July 2026. The Heil side is adding businesses too, but there the new arrivals are services, and the new food is coming to Bolsa Chica Street.
Taken together, the corner's confirmed hours start at 7 a.m. at Roman's. Lunch has six options on Bolsa Chica Street once Pastaphony opens. A lounge with more than four decades on its license sits on Heil. Until Pastaphony posts its schedule, Roman's 8 p.m. close Tuesday through Saturday is the latest confirmed food hour on the corner.
