Welcome to Sunset Beach

Oceanfront homes in a small community without the tourists

Stretched along the Pacific Coast Highway, Sunset Beach is a picturesque town on the California coastline. Though it is a part of the Surf City region, Sunset Beach has its unique personality without all of the touristy traffic known to the area.

Bordered on the north by Seal Beach and the south by Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach has a rich history of over 100 years. Many celebrities choose to reside here due to its quiet and beautiful nature. It is one of the smaller Huntington Beach towns, but that doesn’t diminish its appeal. There is also a bay along part of the coast, perfect for kayaking or taking small paddle boats out to enjoy the calm water.

Local Lifestyle

Although most of Huntington Beach is known for its surfing, Sunset Beach is quiet and relaxing. Residents here love the small-town feel and peaceful oceanfront views. The city holds events to bring people together during the summers, like community garage sales and competitive cook-offs.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Sunset Beach might be small, but it is not short on places to find incredible food and drink. One spot fans rave about is Brix, also known as Sunset Lounge Bottoms Up. With delicious sandwiches and American-style pub food, it’s an excellent spot for a taste of home. Another great spot is Woody’s Diner on Yorba Linda Boulevard by the beach. Known for their famous burgers, they have been operating in the local area for more than 30 years. Woody’s also has an incredible breakfast menu.

Priding itself on its service, Harbor House Café was established in 1939 and thriving ever since. They pride themselves on being always open, as they operate 24 hours a day every day of the year. Many of their guests are returning regulars, as the food and experience they offer is what makes all of Sunset Beach feel like a small-town atmosphere.

No coastal city would be complete without a steak and seafood bar, and J King Neptunes are known as Sunset Beach’s best. With quality seafood and excellent spirits, J King Neptunes is the place to go for any special occasion. Their menu has a great variety of dishes, and all of them are prepared with excellence.

Things To Do

The primary attraction and activity for residents in Sunset Beach, California, is the beach. A mile and a half stretch of ocean to play, surf, swim and enjoy. It is a quiet beach, without the traffic of the touristy beaches. If there is a bit of wind, you will see kiteboarders enjoying the water.

Outside of the beach, one of the best parts of Sunset Beach is its beautiful Greenbelt. This mile-long grassy area is thoughtfully tended with sidewalks, benches, and play areas for families and pets. There are even public showers scattered throughout for people coming in from the beach. This spot is one of Sunset Beach’s biggest hubs and is the location for most of the town’s significant events. The Greenbelt has hosted 4th of July picnics, a Mother’s Day Art Festival, and even Chili cookoffs. Locals often come here to attend these exciting events and just to enjoy time outside or take a break from the ocean.

Schools

Sunset Beach is covered by the Los Alamitos Unified School District and the Huntington Beach City School District. Both have highly rated schools and hold excellent attendance.
